The Africa Warehousing Scheme
|

|
The Africa Warehousing Scheme (AWS) was introduced in 2020, as a means to encourage Mauritian exporters to tap the huge market potential of the African continent.
The benefits of this warehousing scheme include an increased efficiency in the regional supply chain management, reduced shipping costs and transit times, and better customer service by being closer to the selected African markets, hence increasing the competitiveness of locally manufactured products in these markets. The scheme currently covers Tanzania. Mauritian manufacturers can export to Tanzania on a preferential basis, either under the SADC or the AfCFTA rules of origin.
The AWS provides a subsidy on the rental and administrative costs of warehousing activities as well as on the merchandising cost that will support sales of Mauritian products in the target export market, as oer the table below.
Manufacturers who hold an EDB Export Development Certificate and who are interested to enter or develop their exports in Tanzania, are invited to contact EDB.
