As part of its investment promotion strategy, the Economic Development Board (EDB) conducted a targeted mission to India for the healthcare and life sciences sector and which took place from 3 to 12 March 2024 in three cities namely Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai.
The mission also targeted specialty hospitals providing health care services in scarcity areas in Mauritius for which Mauritians are required to travel abroad.
Apart from targeted one-to-one meetings, focused sessions were held with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in Mumbai and Hyderabad together with their members in healthcare with a view to presenting the diverse opportunities in the Mauritian healthcare sector. The EDB also organized a Business Forum in Chennai in collaboration with the Southern India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) and which was attended by key healthcare players in South India.
It is worth mentioning that through this mission, the EDB has garnered several interests from companies in the healthcare, life sciences, medical devices, pharmaceuticals and wellness industry to explore the Mauritian market for collaboration, trade and investment.
